Whether it’s blended into a chilled smoothie, sorbet, or piled high on top of an acai bowl, Frozen Mango offers a burst of refreshment on a hot day. Just thinking of this yellow-orange fruit is enough to make your mouth water.
Frozen Mango in Perfumery
The Frozen Mango concept is inspired by the vibrant contrast between tropical juiciness and crystalline freshness.
Fragrance manufacturer Givaudan, along with Ice(d) Maker Caroline Sabas, compared it to slicing into a perfectly ripe mango that’s been lightly chilled or iced.
Since it’s a fragrance note that may be unfamiliar to some, we asked the Maker how she captured the true complexity of the Frozen Mango scent:
“To achieve this balance, a combination of natural materials and molecules were used to reconstruct its surprising effect. Techniques such as headspace analysis (as used in Givaudan’s ScentTrek™ technology) capture the volatile compounds emitted by real mango or a frozen preparation, to understand the actual aromatic fingerprint.”
The result? A cooling note that’s playful, colorful, and mouthwatering.
What Does Frozen Mango Smell Like?
According to Givaudan, there are key characteristics of a Frozen Mango note.
This includes a first impression that’s bright, juicy, and tangy, reminiscent of mango pulp and citrus. There are also creamy, lightly lactonic nuances, evoking mango flesh ripening in the sun.
The base impression is a cool, airy and watery texture that gives an “iced” freshness rather than a syrupy sweetness.
A natural ingredient called Maté Absolute adds a subtle herbaceous tone to the fragrance. As a result, both Ice(d) Expressive and Ice(d)+ Bold appear green in color (but don’t stain!). It’s so central to the accord that Ice(d)'s working name was, fittingly, “Matcha-Mango.”
Try Frozen Mango in Ice(d)
Our new fragrance is a nice “refresh” from the warm gourmands that are trending. This icy perfume freezes Mango at peak freshness, blending it into a refreshing trio of scents that layer Eucalyptus and Spearmint.
Sabas envisioned Ice(d) “as a moment suspended between two worlds — a sudden snowstorm on a tropical island.” It’s cool, vibrant, and delightfully unexpected.
You can find the Frozen Mango note in every Scent Space version:
Melted ice: The crisp edges of Frozen Mango, Spearmint, and Eucalyptus soften with Seaweed and enveloping Skin Musk.
Chilled to perfection, Frozen Mango quickly ices over with crisp, herbaceous Spearmint and Eucalyptus.
Frozen Mango is dialed down to a bone-chilling intensity with Spearmint and Eucalyptus. Tonka Bean and Amber cut through the frost, forging a long-lasting freshness that commands attention.
